My Life Lately...

+Honestly, I hardly left the house this week. It was full of yoga, hibernating, and lots of work.

+I had a great little meeting with Regina. If you don't follow her, you should! She is on top of her branding game.

+Back to Montgomery today until Tuesday. I guarantee I'll be hibernating again until Christmas Eve when I head to PA for almost a month!

I’m an SEO specialist + digital marketing strategist with over 14 years experience in the industry. I’m here to tell you it IS possible to tackle your marketing with authenticity, grace and ease, and still get results.

I work with passionate business owners and marketing directors who are 𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 and spreading their efforts too thin. They want to know what's working, what's not working, and where they should really be spending their time and money.

But I'll be honest- I'm not here for the people chasing vanity metrics. My philosophy is grounded in 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲-𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 and what I've dubbed #SEOwithSoul. I don't believe in hacks and "beating algorithms" as a long term strategy.

10+ Low-Cost or Free Continuing Education Resources

One of the most important things you can do for yourself, no matter what your profession, is to continue your education. As an entrepreneur this is even more vital. Staying on top of industry trends and changes and sharpening your skills is entirely on your shoulders as a business owner. Thankfully, there are TONS of free or low cost options these days.

10+ Resources for Low-Cost or Free Continuing Education Courses:

1. Coursera Coursera offers weeks-long free or low-cost classes from some of the top universities, such as Yale and Stanford. Find classes in everything imaginable, plus receive certificates for completing the courses. I've had my eye on the entrepreneurial classes and nutrition classes.

2. Skillcrush Skillcrush is an online community helping people learn digital skills to help find more lucrative and fulfilling jobs, no matter what your background is. The courses aren't free, but they'll help you convince your boss to pay for the investment (and they're comparatively very cheap).

3. Skillshare Skillshare offers free classes on everything from fashion to HTML. The website states, "Skillshare is an online learning community to master real-world skills through project-based classes. Our mission is simple: provide universal access to high-quality learning." I haven't personally tried this site but I'm excited to look around. I've heard great things from friends in the industry.

4. Lynda.com Lynda.com has video tutorials for skills like photography, web development, design and business. For $25 a month you get unlimited access to all of the videos and for a little bit more you can get documents to work along for hands-on learning. I've used the site in the past and found it very helpful when trying to learn new software.

5. Codecademy The tagline says pretty much all you need to know- "Learn to code interactively, for free." The coding is broken down into manageable chunks. I've used this site and found it very valuable.

6. Treehouse Treehouse has a variety of classes for the tech industry from web development and mobile apps to starting your own business. Prices are from $25-$49 per month.

7. Udemy I've heard really great things about Udemy, but haven't used it yet. The site states, "We’re the world’s online learning marketplace, where 4 million+ students are taking courses in everything from programming to yoga to photography–and much, much more. Each of our 18,000+ courses is taught by an expert instructor, and every course is available on-demand, so students can learn at their own pace, on their own time, and on any device."

8. Muse University This is a new-to-me site that I can't wait to check out. The site helps you figure out what you want to do and then helps you work on the skills you'll need to achieve it. The classes seem to be a little more general, like how to network, prepare for interviews and be more productive.

9. Google Analytics Academy If you have your own website, blog or work with any websites, it's important to know how to use Google Analytics. Google offers free classes to help you learn more easily.

10. The Ultimate List of Educational Websites

Have you used any online continuing education courses? What did you think?

My Life Lately...

pool facial massage thredup

+The first picture is actually from last week when I needed to take a short sanity break at the pool. After 45 minutes and being drenched in sweat, I was ready to get back to work. By the way, my Google account edited that pool picture on it's own. I'm actually a little creeped out.

+I got a facial and massage for my birthday. Treat yo' self. You can't tell in the picture really, but the redness in my cheeks had already gone down! The facial woman said I have rosacea. I've been told that's not what it is, but I'm going to research. Any tips?

+I went crazy Saturday morning with the Throw Out 100 Things Challenge (from Jess Lively). I have over 200 things I'm donating, selling, recycling or throwing out, and I'm not even done. It felt SO good. I'm going to try this site called ThredUp and see how it goes for some of my nicer clothing items. I'll be doing a full blog post soon about the challenge. However, while trying to price a pair of Toms flats I'm selling (black, sz 9 if you're interested ;-)) I found THESE. Guys, I need these.

+I'm trying to focus on simplifying my life. Not only by decluttering my apartment, but also in streamlining my business. I'm open to any recommendations for making life as an entrepreneur / solopreneur easier! For example, I synced my gmail calendar + outlook calendar. I also realized I could access my phone pictures from my G+ account. Duh. These little things will save a lot of time.

+I finished all The Lively Show podcasts and now I'm sad. Any recommendations for similar podcasts?

My life lately...

nashville airport

+Last Friday I flew from Pensacola to Baltimore with a layover in Nashville. My second flight was delayed, but the Nashville airport was pretty cool so I didn't mind. There was a guy playing acoustic classic rock covers (James Taylor!). I entertained myself by snapping a photo of a floor drain for a client and sitting on the floor reading magazines. (No wonder I'm sick again...)

Wildwood Cap May NJ

+Sunday we left for a quick trip to Wildwood Crest, NJ, where we spent time at the Cape May Lighthouse, the pool, walking the boardwalk and playing some Mad Libs, of course! We didn't actually go to the beach because my little 5 month old niece was sick.

Ragged Edge Coffee House + Pure and Simple Cafe

+I've visited a few of my favorite spots already. The Ragged Edge Coffee House in Gettysburg, PA is a must-visit any time I'm in town. I've loved that place since I was a kid. The Pure & Simple Cafe is in a small town called Greencastle. Despite being tiny, Greencastle has some great healthy living options like that organic cafe, a small health store behind the cafe and Balance Yoga & Wellness Studio.

cold-pressed evolution juice

+I found this delicious cold-pressed juice at Giant (grocery store) and a friend sent me coupons. Cold-pressed juice for $2?! It makes me way more excited than it probably should.

health coach shirts

+I designed two t-shirts for my business and am so excited to see them when I get home. The above is one I made to cover both aspects of my business. The dots are just from the preview. It made me think...would any other health coaches be interested in t-shirts? I'm thinking general tshirts that say Health Coach or Certified Holistic Health Coach (if you went to IIN). It's such a great conversation starter. Leave a comment or send me an email and let me know! I can show you some designs.
