I've had an interesting relationship with Stitch Fix over the past two and a half years.

Since starting in early 2014, I've gotten ten fixes overall (two I didn't get a chance to do a full review on). I first started Stitch Fix because I wanted to start purchasing clothing more intentionally, as well as get help dressing for my body shape.

These days I use it more often to prepare for special events, important client meetings, and conferences.

Business picked up this year and I'd rather spend my little downtime relaxing instead of shopping for clothes. (But don't get me wrong, I love clothes!)

Having a high-quality, expertly styled outfit also helps me feel more confident at these special events.

Overall, using Stitch Fix has helped me figure out my best color (navy blue) and be more comfortable trying different styles.

Despite every comment I submit warning, "Shirts that are too loose make me look like a giant rectangle," they insist on continuing to send them, and I've fallen in love with quite a few (including one in this review).

New to Stitch Fix?

Here's a quick run-down on how it works:

Stitch Fix is like having a personal stylist and shopper. You get to choose the price range for each item, how often you want your fix and add specific notes for the fix. You fill out a survey about your style and body, schedule a delivery date, and a personal stylist does the rest for you.

It feels like Christmas when you see that box on your doorstep!

You fix also comes with photo ideas for how to wear the items (with clothes you may already own.)

I attended a conference called Content Marketing World again this past September. I had zero time to go shopping and wasn't quite sure what to wear, so I let Stitch Fix figure it out for me.

My stylist was considerate of all the details involved, such as comfort during the day while walking to all my sessions and options to dress up at night.

I kept the stuffing in these because I knew right away I wouldn't be keeping them. They're beautiful and seemed like they'd be comfortable, but I have an aversion to pointy-toed shoes.

There are just certain styles that I can't bring myself to adopt. Like sequins. I don't think I'll ever be a sequins girl. *shrugs*

The Laurie Skinny Pant were actually quite amazing. They're made of a heavier material, but have enough stretch to make them fit perfectly. I could see them being perfect for walking around the event and staying comfortable all day.

They're skinny legged as the name suggests (I don't know why I don't have a full length picture). They were a bit long, even for my super long legs, so I would have had to roll them up.

However, I already owned a similar pair, so I couldn't bring myself to spend $88 for another pair. Because let's be honest, I don't dress up that often. 99% of the time I wear yoga pants or this one pair of Adorra skinny jeans.

I loved the pattern on this shirt immediately because it's not like anything I own.

I was nervous about the loose fit (because of the aforementioned rectangle effect) but it's not too bad. Plus, if dressed up with a skirt like above, it can have a great shape.

I actually got this fix back in August, and this shirt has become my go-to!

4 | Le Lis Sibley Twisted Knot Knit Top in Light Gray - Returned

The Sibley Twisted Know Top was sooo soft and had a flattering shape to it. I would have kept it, but it was just a little too short in the front where the knot is. If I stood up straighter or stretched at all, you could see skin or cami.

I could NOT get a good picture of this dress for the life of me, so I apologize for the over-editing.

My stylist included this because it's an easy to pack, versatile dress. Which is brilliant.

It has a criss-cross type texture to it, a little stretch, and a flattering shape.

I decided to return the dress because I was feeling frugal, but to be honest, I wish I had kept it!

When I travel to visit clients, I always pack my Omari Fit & Flare Belted Lace Dress and Dita Sleeveless Ponte Dress because they won't wrinkle and they're versatile for day-to-night.

After reading the note my stylist included and then attending the conference, I have a better idea of what to wear and pack.

6 Tips for What to Wear to a Conference

Comfortable shoes are a MUST
Pants with a little stretch for all-day comfort
Knit dresses that won't wrinkle (might also save space in your bag since it's an all-in-one outfit)
Versatile pieces you can transition from day to night (dresses, pretty blouses)
Stick to one color palette so you can mix and match pieces
Jacket or sweater that can go with any outfit you pack (conference rooms tend to be cold!)

Stitch Fix Updates

Stitch Fix has added so many new features since I started in 2014. They have maternity clothing, men's clothing, and shoes now!

They also recently started offering exchanges, which is super handy.

My stylists have done a great job of sending the right sizes so far, but with every brand fitting differently, you might run into a situation where you fall in love with an item but wish it was a different size. Now you can exchange it and get the item you love!
