March 18, 2016
Quotes for Women's History Month

Wow, it’s been quite awhile since I’ve done a Friday Inspiration post. Six months to the day, actually.

My Instagram account kind of took over for that content, but Women’s History Month seemed like a great reason to share my favorite quotes either by inspirational women or about inspiration for women.

(Confession….it was also a great excuse for me to play around designing the images in Canva.)

Friday Inspiration: Better to Fail in Originality than Succeed in Imitation

September 18, 2015
herman melville quote

“It’s better to fail in originality than succeed in imitation.” -Herman Melville

Keep trying your own ideas. It’s the only way to find what truly inspires you and you’ll end up with something much more valuable than if you imitate others.

Can you truly be content with success based on imitation, anyway? That kind of success isn’t sustainable because you need that spark of personality or something different that helps you stand out. That differentiating factor.

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Friday Inspiration: There is No Finish Line So Love The Journey

August 28, 2015
there is no finish line

“There is no finish line, so love the journey.” -David Weekly

Just a quick reminder that there is no finish line.

Stop the mindset of “when x happens, things will be better” or “when x happens, I’ll feel fulfilled.”

Don’t rush through life. This is a reason to find passions, either in hobbies or your career.

Friday Inspiration: Exist to Be Happy, Not to Impress

August 14, 2015
exist to be happy

What makes you happy?

Are the majority of your actions aimed towards things that truly make you happy or toward things you think you should be doing?

Are the things you buy to impress others? Are you goals really your own?

Make some space to examine these questions and adjust accordingly.

Friday Inspiration: Your Passions Will Not Lead You Astray

July 17, 2015
rumi quote image

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.” -Rumi

Growing up I loved entertaining myself with a wide variety things…making magazines + collages, writing stories, designing websites on Angelfire when I got a little older, health + fitness, reading about mental health issues, etc. I didn’t imagine I’d figure out a way to combine a lot of these interests into a career.

What did you love to do as a child? What do you love to do now?

Even if you don’t turn it into a business, you need to incorporate more of it into your life. Make time for your hobbies and passions. They’re worth more than you think.

Or maybe you have a very specific, offbeat interest. This is even better as far as business is concerned, but it could also be a great way for you to connect with like-minded people.

Don’t be afraid to share your passions. As the quote says, they will not lead you astray.

Friday Inspiration: Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

July 10, 2015
your vibe attracts your tribe

I’m a huge supporter of authenticity in business, so naturally I love this image.

The more easily people can relate to you, the more they will trust you. Your clients and customers want to know you’re human.

You don’t need to attract everyone as a client. You will attract a more solid, loyal following when you can connect to a smaller niche.

Friday Inspiration: Value Yourself + Value Your Time

July 3, 2015
value your time quote image

“Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time. Until you value your time, you won’t do anything with it.” – M. Scott Peck

What a perfect quote for entrepreneurs, especially those who offer services. It can be so challenging to set up boundaries and know what we’re worth.

However, that’s the only way we can move forward, stay sane + do amazing things with the time we have.

Here are a few questions that come to mind when I read this quote:

  • Are you taking time for self-care?
  • Do you have clear boundaries with clients? Are they in your contract?
  • Are you charging what you’re worth?

Friday Inspiration: Feel Grateful For What We Have

June 26, 2015
feel grateful quote image

“If we do not feel grateful for what we already have, what makes us think we’d be happy with more?” – unknown

There’s a certain power in being grateful for what you already have. It opens up new possibilities and the energy to focus on goals that aren’t material.
